The Coalition for a Digital Economy

We're organising a meeting for anyone interested in discussing how the Digital Economy Bill is going to impact business, and in particular the innovative digital businesses that rely on a modern approach to the Internet.

The two main issues are this.

Firstly, the UK's ability to compete on a global economic stage will be limited by the Bill's antiquated approach to content online. Large copyright holders such as the record labels have had a disproportionate influence on the DE Bill, leaving the UK's innovative digital businesses without a voice. Hence the need for something like Coadec.

Secondly, the Bill's implication is that that businesses will now be liable for whatever happens over their WiFi networks. This is an intolerable and unworkable situation.

It will be a breakfast meeting with coffee and croissants available.

We apologise if this timing is inconvenient but we will organise another very soon - but we have to get going ASAP due to the imminent passage of the Bill through Parliament.

Agenda:

1. Taking nominations for a steering committee for Coadec

2. Looking at the Initial statement of principles see http://www.coadec.com

3. Deciding next steps.
